Thanks to Merconnet for the product sample.
I'm way behind in the audio world. I mean I listen to music when I work out, when I drive, sometimes when I'm posting news but I'm by no means an expert. I run almost daily and my CD player just wasn't cutting it anymore. The "anti-skip" protection was nonexistent. So then I switched over to an arm strap Sony radio, only to find poor reception (and possible interference since I run next to busy 4-lane roads) as well as more infomercials than music. The most logical step was an MP3 player, but which one? I wasn't sure myself, but I knew that an iPod was out of the question because 1) it's too bulky for my intents, 2) it stores a lot more music than I need and 3) it's a bit on the expensive side.

What I needed was something that was as small as possible, easy to operate by touch and could store a couple hours worth of music. Then I saw MPIO's FL100 and my jaw dropped. Not only did it have all the features I was searching for and then some, but this tiny player is one of the best I've ever laid eyes on. The package is pretty colorful and yes, that's what the player actually looks like. On the various sides you'll discover a list of contents, some specs and icons of features.

Once inside you'll find a complete package. The FL100 is on the left, wrapped in a bag to prevent smudges on its mirror-smooth surface. Then there are the ear bud headphones, a beige attachable carrying strap, a custom USB cable, a single AAA Duracell battery, a leather case (not shown), a CD with several programs/utilities, and one of the most comprehensive manuals ever. Everything is packaged, sealed and well laid out inside the box. The user's guide is more like a book, coming in at 50 pages (all in English). Aside from a few confusing points the manual presents you with pictures of almost every imaginable screen.

The included headphones are pretty lightweight and have a long enough wire to keep the player in your pocket or a belt (when you're running, working out or have your hands busy). I haven't found much of a use for the carrying strap but I guess that's an alternative to the included leather case. My only complaint is that it's beige (instead of black) and therefore contrasts with the player and the headphones. The included USB cable is not a typical A-B so don't lose it. It too is long enough to hook into the back of the PC yet still be wired around front for easier access. As for the battery, the AAA Duracell is all that's needed for hours of playback.
