Thanks to OCZ for the product sample.
Ever since Corsair released their Voyager GT, the race for the world's fastest USB drive hasn't ceased. OCZ has been in the memory business for some time and has developed a reputation for selling high performance, highly overclockable RAM. So it comes as no surprise that they jumped on the flash drive wagon. Today we'll be taking a look at their ATV Turbo, the latest competitor in the race to be the best.

The drive comes in the blister pack shown above. There are no stickers, no manual, no lanyard, nothing besides the drive.

As you can guess the ATV Turbo is built for toughness. It has follows a "construction" theme and is covered in bright yellow and black rubber. It's shock and water/element resistant. I've stood on it, let it sit submerged in water, and it still worked. Unlike other USB drives, the cap doesn't have any sort of clipping mechanism. Instead, the rubber top hugs the USB plug so it takes some force to remove it. This prevents the cap from coming off accidentally. On the very left is a clear, plastic protected LED with a "4GB" label on top. The Turbo is also available in 8GB.

One problem with many USB drives is the lack of cap storage. Once removed, it's easy to forget the cap on your way out, thereby losing it. OCZ solves this by providing a cap holder on a small chain. Ideally the cap would snap onto the back of the drive (eliminating the need for any secondary holders), but at least this is a step in the right direction.

Here it is next to a Corsair Voyager GT. It's a bit narrower, but it's also longer and thicker. The size is good for preventing loss and damage, but it's not the most compact.

Once you plug it in the computer will immediately recognize it. OCZ added an extra aesthetic touch by using an orange activity LED - very appropriate for the color scheme.
