On top near the front is the control panel for the case. Here you'll find everything you need. Aside from the typical power/reset buttons and power/HDD activity LEDs, you'll also notice 4x USB ports, a couple audio ports, FireWire, and eSATA. All the essentials are there. For a case that sits on the floor (as the Cosmos is meant to) this is perfect placement due to quick and easy access to everything. No more bending down and opening a door just to turn your PC on.

At the top of the case near the rear is a large exhaust vent. This is where the majority of the hot air exits the case.

I'm not sure how this happened or why, but the plastic near one of the top case handles was cracked - on the front and back. I moved the case around freely holding on to one handle at a time just to make sure it wasn't a design flaw and it appears that it was either mishandled during transport (possible but unlikely due to the cardboard box being intact) or it was a defective sample to begin with.

Removing the side panels on the Cosmos 1000 is the neatest thing I've ever seen. Rather than using thumbscrews or clips of sorts, Cooler Master created their own retention mechanism. The lever shown above is found on both sides. When you raise it, the side panel pops out.

What this lever does is it moves several hooks placed along the length of the case keeping the door in place. One such hook can be seen above.

And here's the entire row of hooks, 4 all in all. The panel "clips" into the bottom, then snaps into these hooks. Sturdy, clever, and extremely easy to use. It doesn't get much better.
