Once it's powered on a green light will turn on. During data transfers it blinks. You can see how tiny it is when compared to an eVGA GeForce 7900 GS. The included driver CD is required for installation - Windows XP won't recognize the adapter otherwise. You'll have to install the driver by double clicking on the CD icon, as Windows' installation prompt fails to find the driver on the CD even after you specify the location for some reason. Either way, it works. Let's take a look at the software.
Once installed, a small icon will appear in your task bar (as if there weren't enough already). Double clicking this brings up the AirPace utility window. There are five tabs here. The first gives you basic information about the network you're connected to as well as the signal strength. This is a good time to place the antenna in an area that will give you maximum reception.
The second tab gives you more detailed information about your adapter, including the MAC address.
The third tab provides information about any packet errors. Not something most people will be looking at unless they're having problems.
The fourth tab gives you a couple options including setting the power save mode and preamble mode.
