Moving down to the bottom right, four SATAII connectors are present and each is colored red. Below the SATAII plugs are four USB2.0 headers and the front panel I/O header. Off to the left under the heatsink is the NVIDIA GeForce 7050/nForce 630A MCP Chipset. This chipset is loaded with too many features to list them all in this review. Instead, I will point out some of the main features and everything else can be read on the website.
The main difference between the 650i SLI and 680i SLI that seems to concern gaming enthusiasts is that the 650i SLI's PCI express slots have x8 electrical connections instead of x16 in SLI mode. The simple fact of the matter, though, is that SLI in dual x16 mode hasn't proven to offer significant benefit over SLI with dual x8 PCI express slots. As you can see in the tablet, the 650i SLI also lacks a third PCI express slot. In addition to the reduction in PCI express lanes, the 650i SLI chipset also lacks official support for SLI-ready memory with EPP (although some 650i boards like the Abit board in this article do support it) and most of the networking-related special features.
Ok, now on to the final test for me. Band of Brothers using Power DVD. I love this title and with this new TFT I was expecting some good results. I left the settings pretty much default, except to keep aspect ratio. Also, I did reset the display drivers to default though using Nvida scaling.
On first sight we see that the DA750 comes with a black painted housing, giving this product elegant looks and a strong feeling there is decent quality inside, something we're used too from Silverstone technologies. Modular PSU's might not charm everybody out there though it leaves us with the possibility to further increase airflow inside your pc housing while it may also appear a bit more clean because we can now use only the needed amount of connectors. For cooling purposes, a 120 fan us being used, probable the smartest choice if one wants to combine great cooling capabilities with lower noise production.
And these were the two questions I had to ask myself when the Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 landed on my desk with a not inconsiderable thump. Now I don’t want to appear anti-Apple, because I’m not, (I’m nearly 100 per cent sure that the rumours about Macs giving you herpes aren’t true) but I do get a bit fed-up with gadget after gadget claiming to be the ultimate accessory I’ll ever need for my iPod. Not that this is what Altec Lansing is saying, it’s just that this is one of so many docking stations that it’d need to do and be something special to lift it above the dozens of other similar products out there.
Evoluent frequently describes the placement of the hand on the VM3 to be the "handshake position" Since all we have ever known is the vertical style mouse, adapting to the VM3 was not instantaneous. In fact it almost felt downright uncomfortable when we first put our hand it, before we booted up our systems. But since the right side of the mouse is setup much like our typical mice, it really wasn't too difficult to adapt while performing some regular computer functions. In fact, within a day, we felt comfortable fraggin' it up in CounterStrike:Source (a favorite game among HL Staff members). Some of us were instantly as good (ok..BAD) as we were with our old horizontal mice. Ultimately after many hours of using the VM3, it seems the only reason it felt so uncomfortable was because the old horizontal-style was all we ever knew (aside from track-balls, which most of us still can't figure out).
VIA has dubbed the C7 the world’s first "carbon-free" processor. It's ultra low power, topping out at a maximum of just 12W at 1.5GHz, or 20W at 2GHz and is fabbed on a 90nm IBM SOI (silicon on insulator) process. The chip comes in three variants: C7, C7-D (desktop) and C7-M (mobile). The C7-D ("Esther") is the chip incorporated into the mini-ITX board we're looking at here, and is just 21x21mm square and based on a nanoBGA2 design.
The right side of the cooler houses the control and connection panel where you connect your USB cable and control the power and speed of the fans during operation. The second USB port allows the user to use this cooler without losing a USB connection. Just make sure you don't use that port for any higher power USB components seeing a lot of power will already be drawn for the cooler's fans. Overdrawing power from one port could lead to damage.
The most interesting part of the Radeon HD 2000 series, is that ATI can now compete with NVIDIA and that they are still in time for the first DirectX 10 games. In fact AMD remained largely silent about their upcoming new technology and quite some rumors did spread around the globe about what the new R600 would and wouldn't be. In the end the R600 didn't make such a big entrance as we all expected, mainly due to the real absence of the XTX version and that NVIDIA anticipated quite effectively with their GeForce 8800 Ultra version to steer up the critics. The Radeon HD 2900 XT is the first card from ATI to feature the Unified Shader technology, which seems to be essential for full DirectX 10 support. Next to that ATI has completely switched to the internal CrossFire bridging for multi-GPU technology.
When I say that the E-410 has a lower specification than the E-510, in fact the only major feature that it lacks is the image stabilisation system. It has everything else, including the SSWF anti-dust system, live view on a 2.5-in 230Kp LCD monitor, and the ability to use both xD-Picture and CompactFlash cards. Like its larger sibling E-410 has an extremely complete menu system, with lots of user settings such as fully customisable white balance and colour modes, adjustable noise filtering and an anti-shock mirror-up mode, but a few of the more advanced features such as white-balance or flash bracketing, ISO limiter and the ability to alter the size and compression ratios of HQ and SQ image modes have been trimmed off. Like all of Olympus’ other DSLRs it also has a good on-screen quick menu system for most common adjustments, although it does lack several of the one-touch shortcut buttons of the E-510, making the control system a lot less daunting.
