I used the keyboard for a week to get the feel of it before installing the iTouch software. Installation was a breeze, and after a system restart I was ready to test it out. On the first use of any of the F-keys iTouch pops up a message giving you links to the help section of that key and to the customization page of that key. The Help calls this the “First Button Usage Experience.”

The help section and topics that Logitech has included are very robust and contain a large amount of information. I only found one glaring error, and this was the statement that the Sleep/Suspend/User key would not work in Windows XP. It certainly worked just fine for me.

Now that the software has added functionality to the F keys and allowed for customization, a world of possibilities is opened. My F9 key is now set to launch CNC: Generals whenever I hit it. Not having any use for the Webcam button, I remapped it to launch Mikhailtech and display “Mikhailtech.” This customization allows for almost endless combinations of programs to be mapped.

The iTouch interface is very intuitive and quite easy to use. The F keys can be set to cycle through open applications, open locations on your computer, start the calculator and so on. There was only one problem I encountered with the software, and while being a nuisance it does not diminish the quality of the product. The Media key next to the volume controls causes the iTouch program to crash whenever it's pushed, and it's not possible to customize it.
Overall this keyboard packs amazing functionality and many customizable options into a package that won’t leave you with an empty wallet. The keyboard is comfortable and easy to use, and feels quite sturdy. The issue with the Media button is the only thing that prevents this keyboard from being nearly perfect.
Pros
- Multimedia features are well laid out and very expansive
- $15 price is outstanding for the features
- iTouch software allows for customization of F keys
- Zero-tilt design allows for a completely flat keyboard
Cons
- Placement of the Esc key is a little off
- Media key crashes iTouch software, and is not customizable
I would recommend this keyboard to anyone who is in need of one, but doesn’t have much cash to spare. Thanks for reading and enjoy the site!
