What's even better is that it's double sided, with a smooth surface (left) and a rougher one (right). The former is best for optical mice while the later is better suited for ball mice (for anyone who still uses one). Needless to say, this is another great option.

The wrist pad consists of the cloth pad itself attached to a rollout rubber mat. This slides underneath the eXactMat and is perfectly cut so it doesn't stick out the sides. It also helps to further prevent slipping. Unfortunately this mat is thicker than the feet on the actual pad (so they end up floating), but given the precise cut neither moves around when installed.

It ends up looking like this. Perfect placement. The wrist rest is also wide enough to allow for movement (as opposed to most other models which barely even cover your wrist).

However the best feature of this wrist rest is its memory conformance. That is, after some use you'll notice a semi-permanent indentation tailored to the exact form of your wrist. This allows for unprecedented comfort and after using this pad for a few days, I'm not going back to anything else. The fact of the matter is this: with other mouse pads, even cloth ones, after several hours of continuous use you begin to irritate your wrist. With this rest, it's no longer a problem.
After several days of work, gaming, and browsing I'm convinced that this is, hands down, the best mouse pad I've ever used. It looks great, the size is perfect, and most importantly it has a wrist rest that actually works, and works extremely well. At around $35 for the kit (at the time of writing) it's certainly not the cheapest pad you can get, but the investment is well worth it. Unlike cheaper variants that deteriorate over time (and virtually every cloth pad which frills), the eXactMat feels like it could last for years.
Pros
- Great looking
- Very solid, well thought-out construction
- Perfect size
- Great tracking
- Two optional sides
- Aluminum trim (for looks and durability)
- Wrist rest that fits and works extremely well
- Great for work, gaming, browsing, you name it
Cons
Going into the evaluation I thought the eXactMat would be like any other mouse pad, but I was wrong. Not only does it look great, but it's well proportioned, well built, and most importantly it has something no other pad I've come across does: a perfectly integrated, extremely useful wrist rest. If you're looking for a performance mouse pad and have the funds to pay slightly more, Razer's eXactMat will not disappoint. If interested, you can get yours here.
