StompFest was also a great opportunity to display your PC (think of it as the enthusiast's car show) as well as get ideas from what others have done. As can be expected, stores specializing in the necessary accessories (Crazy PC, Extreme Alterations, Luna Mods, etc) were all present and showing off their stuff. Too many custom rigs were present for pictures, with some being assembled on the spot. From half-terabyte computers to double-wide cases on wheels, everything imaginable was there and then some.

Live entertainment was another facet that caught everyone's attention, from arm wrestling (above left: Harry from ABIT and Sean the SF organizer) to electric guitar. Of course none of this would have been possible without a caffeine rush, and as the night progressed more and more empty Bawls bottles could be found all over the place.

Everyone got in on the action, even the sponsors (above: Kingston and DFI, left: PimpRig and ABIT, right: Hitachi). Team DFI was beating everyone in UT2003 so I didn't even bother. There weren't any major technology presentations, but then again this was a LAN dedicated mostly to gaming. Even those who didn't win anything but the door prizes left with smiles.

But the ones really grinning, though exhausted, were the tournament winners. Prizes were also given out for creative systems, prior sponsor support and the like. Jason and I didn't stay for the rest of Sunday's gaming, but I anticipate it was just as good as the day before.

Around 5am Saturday night (before I fell off my chair and into my sleeping bag) things quieted down a bit, but at least half the attendees were still going at it. Some left for the night; others fell asleep at their chairs. But overall it was well worth the trip. It's definitely not something that happens every weekend (for most) and is a welcome change. You can count on Mikhailtech to represent StompFest again, as well as any other large LANs in the tri-state area. Until then, goodnight, farewell, and we hope to see you at the next "Best of the Midwest". Thanks for reading and enjoy the site!
