Page 1 of 3 With school, work and a little thing called life, there's barely any time for games, but every now and then a vacation is in store. This year's StompFest was my first LAN party ever, and what a LAN it was. Held in Indianapolis, the event of last weekend drew in over 225 attendees (sponsors excluded) with 64 on the waiting list and many more unaccounted for. Though not as large as MML2, it's definitely not a small get-together.

The event was held on September 13-14 with over 34 hours of gaming time. I arrived Friday evening to help set up as well as join the staff and sponsors for a sports bar dinner. The rented auditorium was larger than adequate and the SF crew did a superb job of setting up power and routers. There were also literally hundreds of door prizes from various sponsors to insure that no one left empty-handed. From sumo wrestlers to pens and screwdrivers, you got something the second you walked in.

Meanwhile hundreds of feet of cables were being routed, new power equipment tested, and the various servers set up. Though no one was to arrive until early the next morning, some heavy duty preparations were under way. Thanks to the new electrical implementation, there were no power outages save for one or two, but those didn't last for more than a few seconds. All the tournaments went smoothly as far I can tell.

Aside from all the regulars some big names were present, and not just the sponsors. Heavy-duty LAN goers such as Teh_Rage showed up and were and helping out just as much as anyone, keeping spirits up as well.
