Hard drive cooling is a bit of a controversial topic. Most drives are perfectly fine with whatever circulation goes on inside a case, but others can get quite hot. Dedicated coolers are never a requirement, but they can add to peace of mind that your equipment is running at optimal temperatures. The past couple weeks we've taken a look at several models. Today's contender is a bit different: it's wider and has a couple fans.

Vizo's Voyager ships in the package shown above. The specs for the cooler are:
  • Dimensions: 115 x 102 x 21 mm
  • DC Fan Dimensions: 50 x 50 x 10 ( 2 PCS )
  • Bearing Type: Sleeve Bearing
  • Speed: 4000 RPM
  • Noise Level: 23.19 dBA
  • Max Air flow: 9.21 (Min:7.54 ) CFM
  • Rated Voltage: DC 12 V
  • Rated Current: 00.13 (Max:0.14 ) A x 2
  • Compatibility: 3.5" Bay
  • Weight:110 g
As you can tell there are two fans, both of which pump a fair amount of air. For their size and noise rating, (which is even higher when the two are combined) they deserve a "mid range" stamp.

The package includes only the cooler - you don't even get case screws. It connects to your power supply via a 4 pin pass through molex. As for mounting, it can be placed anywhere on the bottom of your hard drive. The fan grill up top was a nice addition to prevent wires from finding their way into the blades as well as giving it a classy appearance.

Flipping it reveals the fans. The cooler construction is very simple. There are two main pieces which are held together by plastic clips. The twin fans are screwed into the bottom piece.
