The microSD is derived from SanDisk Transflash drives and it is used not only in mobile phones, but also in GPS devices, portable media players, digital audio players etc.
It is the smallest memory card available today and it is about a quarter the size of a normal SD card.The cards that are over 4GB or larger are only available in SDHC (high capacity) format.
