Author: Andrew Schembri Date: June 22, 2008 Manufacturer: OCZ Provider: OCZ « What’s included Page 4: Testing OCZ’s Vendetta 2 was tested using Orthos 2004 for 15 minutes to generate a “load” temperature and idle was defined as 10 minutes sitting at Windows XP desktop with no programs running. CoreTemp 0.99 was used for temperatures. Noctua NT-H1 was used on all heatsinks. ArctiClean stages 1 and 2 were used on the processor and all coolers before they were installed. Test setup:
![]() With a higher ambient temperature, the Vendetta 2 completely obliterates the competition. A huge 13 degrees C below the stock cooler at full load. This cooler allowed the e6300 CPU in our test system to be clocked to 3.1 GHz completely stable. The fan was very quiet throughout testing. At 800RPM it was dead silent, but at 1500RPM it became audible, but was still very quiet. There were no issues with installation. The OCZ Reaper RAM in the test system has integrated heat pipe heat spreaders that rise above the RAM. This meant that the RAM could not occupy the slot adjacent to the CPU socket. This can be remidied by rotating the cooler 90 degrees. Conclusion OCZ has put out a knockout product with the Vendetta 2. The new technologies such as the dimpled fins, and heat pipe direct touch allow very efficient and effective cooling. The fan is super quiet, especially at low RPM, with no whine “airflow” noise. Installation was a snap with motherboard removal not required. OCZ has made an excellent product with the Vendetta 2, and retailing at $50, it is priced right. Special thanks to OCZ for sending out the review sample! ![]() « What’s included |
