Being green has been the latest fad for all, so why not join the fad with Hiper’s Type M line of power supplies? Hiper’s marketing shows peak efficiency of 85% at 230 volts. Hiper also packages the Type M power supplies in environmentally friendly packaging. While being green is important, it is completely useless if the product does not live up to consumer’s standards.


Introduction

HIPER is actually an acronym for High Performance group and was founded in the UK in 2001. The company deals only with cutting edge technology and high-end parts. This is power supply is a little longer than the standard ATX power supply. This may be of concern for those of you who have small cases, however, it should have no problem fitting into a normal gaming tower.


According to the label, approximately 92% of the power produced by this power supply is available on the +12 volt rails. This is excellent for modern systems. Also note the rather high 28 Amp +5 volt rail. This is excellent for older systems, such as those with socket A processors.



What’s in the box?


First of all take a look at the box. What’s so special about a dingy looking gray box? Well, according to HIPER, is environmentally friendly, being recycled paper.

The AC power cord is 16 AWG.


The manual is 8 pages and does give some good information about how to connect devices with the extender cables, as well as how to connect SLI graphics cards all the way up to two 8800 Ultras. The manual also gives pinouts and unit specs.
