Glacialpower GP-AL 650A Power Supply
Author: Stefan Alexandru Mileschin Editor: Peter Kapas Date: July 03, 2008 Manufacturer: Glacialtech Provider: Glacialtech « The tests Page 7: Conclusion Conclusion: I liked this power supply because it was efficient during load. At IDLE, it was almost the same with the ANTEC power supply. Another thing I noticed and it is worth mentioning is the power supply fan which, even if it is from ADDA and it’s DEAD silent, it starts only after the power supply heats up a bit! If the power supply is not loaded, the fan can turn off again and stay off for a very good amount of time. One little thing concerned me while testing: the power usage when the power supply is completely turned off on older systems. When I wanted to find out how much Watts it draws when the computer is off and the power supply is on the ON position, I found out that it was using 26.16W. Most of the power supplies, in this position, only consume between 16W and 17W.On the OFF position I found out that this power supply consumes 15.33W, while the other power supplies I own don’t consume a thing while in this position. UPDATE! Glacialtech were kind to send me another power supply to test because of the power consumed in the 0 position issue. The second power supply hadn't this problem, only the first sample had this issue. These being said, I fully recommend this power supply to the ones that want to have a very efficient system, but also own a device that switches off the power from the computer at certain hours. I also award this power supply with the Mikhailtech Editor’s Choice award! ![]() « The tests |
