Brother MFC-640CW 7-in-1 Multi-Function Centre
Author: Wayne Ihamäki Date: December 29, 2007 Manufacturer: Brother Provider: Brother Setup » Page 1: Introduction ![]() Foreword Brother shipped this unit to me over a year and half ago. The site I was reviewing for closed the doors without much notification to anyone. The folks at Brother Canada were the nicest sponsors one could work with. When they found out a local children's charity was in need, without hesitation they helped. With great folks like these, it's been upsetting I couldn't deliver. It's been a long and frustrating road. To Brother Canada, please accept my deepest apology for taking so long. Packaging ![]() The outside of the MFC-640CW's packaging really does a great job of listing the benefits of the attractive unit shown in the middle. Inside, the unit is held in place with recyclable cardboard holders and just a bare minimum amount of plastic wrap to prevent moisture damage. A Closer Look ![]() The unit has stickers on it listing all the details, so store shoppers won't have to go any further when making a decision. ![]() On the left, buttons are placed for the Messenger Center. ![]() In the center, four buttons let you change modes from Photo Capture, Copy, Fax, and Scan. To the right of that, a menu selection switch. ![]() Here we can see a sticker pointing out the wireless feature. On the far right, there's a button for Stop/Exit, Color Start, and Black Start. ![]() The unit also has a card reader capable of reading most media cards. ![]() The handset is okay, but I prefer something that feels a little more substantial for making everyday phone calls. Although it does work when the power goes out, unlike all those cordless units. The more expensive Brother MFC-885CW does comes with a 5.8GHz cordless handset. Setup » |
